First establish whether the result is a physical item

This is a documented example of why a result on Xianyu is not automatically a shippable product. The article describes the platform’s expansion at that time; it is not a current inventory directory.

For a purchasing shortlist, identify whether the page offers an object, an accessory, a service or a request to buy. A model name in the title is only a clue. The description needs to establish what changes hands and how many pieces the price covers.

Translate the condition claim into a question

These translations are reading aids, not a platform grading system. A seller’s “new” description is still a claim about an individual item. Save the original wording together with a translation so that an important qualification does not disappear from your notes.

An offer comparison that makes the trade-off visible

If you want a complete set, the useful next action is to resolve the missing-piece question. If you only want a display figure, packaging may have less value. That is a concrete comparison of requirements; it does not assume that one seller’s asking price establishes the market value.

Ask for evidence that resolves the specific uncertainty

For a bag, identify the corners, handles, lining, fastening and any stated marks. For a collectible, ask which loose parts and packaging are included. For a device, an exterior photograph cannot demonstrate the function you need. Choose questions based on the item rather than asking for “more photos” without a purpose.

Keep the answer tied to the listing and date. If the seller describes a missing accessory in a message, record that qualification beside the attractive main image. It should not vanish when the find is reduced to one spreadsheet row.

Sealed packaging creates a real inspection trade-off

OOTDBuy’s inspection notice states that specified sealed categories are not opened for detailed internal inspection; its professional-product exclusions also limit specialist checks. A sealed collectible or a digital accessory therefore needs a more precise inspection question than a basic colour-and-quantity check.

For example, preserving a seal may matter to a collector, while an interior-parts check would require opening it. Confirm what inspection can be provided for the actual product before relying on it. Do not treat a seller’s description and warehouse exterior photographs as equivalent evidence.

Make the saved find useful even if the item sells

Record the edition or model, condition wording, included pieces, source link, date and unanswered questions. If the individual item is sold, use those details as the requirements for a fresh search. A replacement listing with the same model name should be evaluated again.

Xianyu is worth exploring when a particular version or complete set matters to you. It is less straightforward when you require interchangeable repeat stock. The value of a good shortlist is preserving the details that make an individual offer relevant—not treating a saved link as a reservation.
